How safe is your home’s wiring?

Make sure your home is safe - arrange for an electrical Home Safety Inspection of the property’s electrical installation today.

How old is your home? Has the electrical wiring been checked recently by an electrical expert to make sure it is safe and poses no danger to your family, yourself and visitors?

If your home is more than 25 years old, the electrical wiring needed for your lights, cooker, and other electrical equipment and appliances may be potentially unsafe. The wiring could be deteriorating and unable to cope with the requirements of a modern household and your home could catch fire because of faulty and/or unsafe wiring.

Buying or selling a house

If you are purchasing or selling, an electrical Home Safety Inspection of the property’s electrical installation, receiving a certificate and, if necessary, arranging to fix any defects will provide a level of assurance for both parties.

Arrange an inspection today

Arrange for an electrical expert to conduct an electrical safety inspection of your home. They will identify any remedial work that may be required to be carried out by a registered electrical contractor.

ESV approved and registered electrical Home Safety Inspectors are qualified registered electrical contractors, licensed electricians and licensed electrical inspectors.

The registered inspector uses the necessary skills and latest technology to conduct a thorough inspection of the electrical installation and wiring system in your home.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the registered inspector is obliged to provide you with a report within two business days. The report will outline the overall condition of your electrical installation and record any defects against the Electricity Safety Act and regulations covering electrical installations that require attention.

What do I do next?

If your electrical installation is recorded as safe, then you can relax – for now at least. The registered electrical Home Safety Inspector can advise on when it might be appropriate to conduct another inspection.

If there are deficiencies in the electrical installation, you must engage a registered electrical contractor for the required work to be carried out. Ask to see his or her licence when the electrician calls and make sure you receive a certificate of electrical safety when the work is complete. The certificate is your guarantee that the work is safe and has been carried out by a qualified tradesperson and up to the required high standards.
