Guidelines - Acceptance of Electrical Equipment other than AUS Ex or IEC Ex Certified Equipment for installation in Explosive Atmospheres
. These guidelines have been developed for owners/occupiers of electrical installations which contain electrical equipment in areas where the presence of materials, such as flammable gases or vapours and combustible dusts, fibres or flyings, are generated, prepared, processed, handled, stored or otherwise used, and which are therefore potentially hazardous as specified in Clause 7.9 of AS/NZS 3000:2000.
Electrical Inspection Guidelines
. These guidelines are titled “Licensed Electrical Inspector Manual: Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installation Work”. The guidelines are to be used by licensed electrical inspectors (LEIs) engaged in electrical inspection work and/or auditing of electrical installation work to ensure that electrical installation work complies with the requirements of the Electricity Safety Act and Electricity Safety (Installations) Regulations. These guidelines have been developed with the aim of meeting uniform electrical inspection standards throughout Victoria.
Guidelines for Electrical Safety in Quarries
These guidelines have been developed in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) and in consultation with the Construction Material Processors Association of Victoria together with registered electrical contractor Gordyn and Palmer Pty Ltd.
This publication has been designed for use by quarry managers and quarry workers. It provides essential information on electrical safety and reducing the risk of electrical incidents and accidents.
All people and organisations involved in the quarry and extractive industries should understand that all electrical work undertaken in this industry must be undertaken in accordance with the Electricity Safety Act 1998 and Electricity Safety (Installations) Regulations 1999.

Guidelines for Electrical Safety in Mines
These guidelines are being developed in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) and in consultation with the Victorian Mining Industry.
This publication is being designed for use by mine operators and mine workers. It provides essential information on electrical safety requirements including risk of electrical incidents and accidents.
All people and organisations involved in the mining industry should understand that all electrical work undertaken in this industry must be undertaken in accordance with the Electricity Safety Act 1998 and Electricity Safety (Installations) Regulations 1999.
Supervision Guidelines for Apprentices Working on Electrical Installations
These guidelines have been produced by the Committee for Safe Working on Electrical Installations, established by the Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector (OCEI) (now known as ESV). The Committee consists of representatives from the following organisations:

The attached Guidelines for using Certificates of Electrical Safety on construction sites and elsewhere, together with Guidelines for the Supervision of Apprentice Electricians, have been provided to enable the industry to understand the requirements as laid down in the Electricity Safety Act 1998 and Electricity Safety (Installations) Regulations 1999.
These Guidelines were first introduced in 1999 and issued to the industry in hardcopy form. Over the past few months there have been increasing questions asked about these Guidelines and the request for them to be made available in electronic form.
