Director of Energy Safety and Chair designate of the Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) Commission, Marnie Williams, has announced the appointment of Sharife Rahmani as acting CEO of ESV.
Sharife has served as ESV’s Chief Operating Officer and most recently has led the transition of the independent energy safety regulator’s governance model – from a single Director of Energy Safety to a three person commission. He also led ESV’s response to COVID-19.
His immediate priorities will be to imbed new governance arrangements, establish two new external committees and work with the executive to complete the transition process.
The appointment of a CEO will provide a clear distinction between regulatory decision-making, and the day-to-day operations of ESV.
An extensive executive search for the recruitment of a permanent CEO has commenced and is expected to be completed by March.
