The Victorian Government will launch a new training program for Licensed Electrical Inspectors (LEIs). As part of an $11 million package, the new training will upskill existing LEIs and provide a new pathway for new LEIs.
The package comes through Solar Victoria and will support increasing demand for solar systems, stimulated by the Solar Homes program.
Energy Safe Victoria Commission Chairperson Marnie Williams has welcomed the package.
“We are strengthening our support to LEIs to ensure they continue to deliver best practice safety outcomes,” she said.

All prescribed or complex electrical installations must be inspected by an LEI before they are energised. This includes solar systems. The inspector will check the installer’s work and provide assurance that the installation is safe to begin operating.
