Extension of RCBO prohibition

Tuesday 2 April 2019 3:02pm
Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is seeking your feedback regarding the extension of the current prohibition of residual current circuit breakers with overcurrent protection (RCBOs). ESV prohibited the sale and supply of compact RCBOs on 1 July 2018 unless the brand and model of RCBO passed additional testing requirements, and is listed on the ESV website as having complied with the additional requirements. The list of compliant RCBOs and further information is available hereExternal Link . There are currently >800 compliant RCBOs listed. ESV intends to extend this prohibition for a period of 10 years and has worked with relevant industry representatives to review the additional testing requirements. The testing requirements have been revised to ensure that when an RCBO is connected back-to-front it is not rendered inoperative. Download a copy of the revised additional testing requirements hereExternal Link . ESV is issuing an information paper for the purposes of consultation with respect to the proposed regulatory action. Download a copy of the paper hereExternal Link . Any feedback on the issues raised in the paper or the new testing program should be submitted to ESV by Friday 3 May 2019 to consultation@energysafe.vic.gov.au.
