Important advice following reports of fraudulent behaviour in flood-impacted areas

Sunday 23 October 2022 7:10pm

Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is warning residents in flood-impacted areas to be aware of potentially fraudulent behaviour, following reports of people requesting access to people’s homes, claiming to be from “energy safe”.

The reports suggest the people are dressed in black shirts and have visited properties in Rochester, seeking to “check inside homes”.

ESV inspectors are currently on deployment in flood-impacted areas in order to distribute and provide advice to people impacted by floods.

All ESV inspectors carry identification and will not ask to inspect inside people’s homes.

Only Victoria Police and the SES will advise you to evacuate your home.

Information about conditions is available on the VicEmergency app or by calling their hotline on 1800 226 226.Energy Safe Victoria will not advise you to evacuate.
