EESS legislation and regulations
The new EESS legislation was passed the Victorian Parliament without amendment on 8 September and is available HERE. It addresses increasing numbers of recalls and deteriorating standards of electrical goods.
Following the new legislation will be the implementation of updated Regulations. ESV has reviewed the Electricity Safety (Equipment) Regulations 2009 (which are due to expire on 21 April 2019) and has developed a revised set of regulations that will both replace the current regulations and facilitate the implementation of the EESS Act.
ESV has released a discussion paper and the proposed regulations for public review and comment. All comments must be received by ESV by 26 October 2018.
